Fall 2024 season introduction

The Fall 2024 season of the San Francisco Pool Association has arrived! The Board of Directors is thrilled to welcome the 36 registered teams ahead of an exciting season of pool.

Regular season

Division schedules have been posted in the Calendars section, laying out the plan for the first nine weeks of play. Subsequent weeks will involve interdivisional matches between teams of equal or similar rank. Matches will be entered in the scoring app soon.

There are two new venues – Il Pirata and Final Final. Addresses and information about these locations can be found in the Venues tab.

Tournaments

Tournament schedules are being finalized and will be populated into the event calendar over the next couple weeks. For now we would like to highlight the following:

The Captain’s Tournament will take place next Saturday, September 7th, at the Pilsner Inn. One player per team is allowed to compete.

And starting in September, qualifiers for the 9-Ball Tournament will begin. These will take place on Saturdays and Thursdays, with two players from each of the eight qualifying tournaments vying for the trophy.

Good luck and happy shooting!

Spring 2024 playoff results

After five weeks of action, the Spring 2024 playoffs are in the books!

In the City Championship, the Happy Lounge Rawhides won the grand final over the Pilsner InnDecisives in front of a packed house at Family Billiards. After barely defeating the defending titleholders 9-7 in the winners bracket, the Rawhides prevailed 9-4 for their first City Championship in three seasons. In their third season in the league, the Bus Stop Flyers continue to show rapid improvement as they posted their highest-ever finish of 3rd place. Smoke & Fizz rounded out the top 4, earning plaques for the second consecutive season.

In the Founders Cup, league stalwarts Cinch Phoenix earned their first victory since 2010 with a 9-6 win over the Lucky Horseshoe Wild Horses. Fellow Cinchsters Cinch Pack defeated one of our newest teams, Finnegans Wake & Break, in the contest for 3rd and 4th.

Congratulations to these teams and all league members. We look forward to seeing you at the West Coast Challenge individual qualifying tournament on Saturday, August 10 and the awards party on Tuesday, August 13.
